Option 1: Convert in your browser

  1. Click Choose files above (or drop your .mov file onto the box).
  2. The first run downloads the converter engine, which can take a moment. The video is then re-encoded to MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) in your browser.
  3. Click Download MP4.

Option 2: Clipchamp (Microsoft’s video editor)

Clipchamp comes with Windows 11 and is available from the Microsoft Store. It exports videos as MP4.

  1. Open Clipchamp and create a new video.
  2. Import your .mov file and add it to the timeline.
  3. Click Export and choose a resolution. The result is saved as an .mp4 file.

Free desktop players such as VLC also have a convert option, if you already use them.

FAQ

How long does it take?

Conversion runs on your own device, so speed depends on its processor and the video length. Short clips are quick; long or 4K videos can be slow, and very large files may run out of browser memory.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is processed in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm and is never sent to a server.

Why won’t my MOV play on Windows?

iPhone videos are often recorded in HEVC (H.265), which may need an extra codec on Windows. Converting to MP4 with H.264 plays in almost every player.
